Many chefs dream of owning and operating their own restaurant, this was true for Chef Derek early in his career. However, his 17+ years in fine dining allowed him to become the perfect personal chef and caterer, mastering a wide array of cuisines rather than sticking to just one. His expertise in blending flavors creates tantalizing dishes that excite the taste buds. It was Niki's gentle and loving encouragement that inspired Derek to pursue and create something he never knew he truly wanted.
From an early age, Chef Derek knew that cooking would be a central part of his life, as many of his fondest family memories revolved around the kitchen. Driven by this passion, he pursued a career as a chef, earning a degree in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Dallas in 2004.
In December of 2019, with a nudge from his then girlfriend (now wife) and now business partner, Niki, Derek decided to go out on his own to allow his versatility, love to entertain and unmatched work ethic into the homes of clients and groups of many sizes. Many of the clients to date have become like family and Derek and Niki frequently provide one of a kind meals for them often.
Niki is the driving force behind the scenes, expertly managing the details and logistics that keep the business running smoothly. With years of experience in Office, Project, and Business Management, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, she ensures that everything related to Curated Flavor operations is in perfect order. Under Chef Derek's guidance, Niki has mastered the art of creating desserts, breads, ice creams, and more. Her creativity shines as she crafts each adding a personal touch for every client.
